After a dinner in Paris, I was heading back to my hotel. As I rounded the corner, this view of Les Invalides was bathed in the setting sunlight. I was awestruck. It wasn't until I painted it that I realized to Parisians, this is an everyday sight. That led me to painting the figures with their noses stuck in their cell phones.
