It was wet and rainy on this day of the plein air event. My top goal was to paint anyway, but my second goal was to find a place where I could stay dry. Under a porch awning would work just fine, and I knew there were several at the Moses Cone Manor in Blowing Rock, NC. As a tourist attraction, the front porch was off limits, but I found this back door entrance that had its own charm. I can just imagine the manor employees chattering away as they use this entrance on their way to and from work. Even though this view is too close to depict the weather conditions, I think my color choices still convey a wet and rainy day.
