I'm drawn to the rare large sand dune we have on the North Carolina coast. This one especially fascinates me because of its craggy face that causes the colors of the reflected light to bounce around. While I was painting these sand dunes en plein air, I was warned that within the hour, 8 dump trucks of sand would be dropping their loads in the very spot I was standing as the beach prepared for the approaching hurricane season. Sigh...and hurry with the painting! The painting's title was inspired by my fear that this sand dune would essentially disappear.
